The so-called Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria condemned the recent call by President Obasanjo for the abolition of the death penalty worldwide. They claimed that the president's call is part of an overt plan to subvert the implementation of the Islamic Hudud under Shariah. Among other inflammatory resolutions, the group called on all Muslims to bring political pressure to bear on their state governments to ensure that the plan to introduce and institutionalize sexuality education at all levels of our educational systems, is frustrated.
