The Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament Edward Ssekandi assured journalists that he would ask the committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs to review a clause in the Anti-Terrorism Bill that provides the death penalty to journalists who publish material promoting terrorism.
Ssekandi said however, that the interests the state and the media must be balanced.
"We cannot sacrifice the security of the state for the interests of the press," Ssekandi said, while meeting representatives of the East African Media Institute-Uganda Chapter at the Parliament Building.
