The Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions has learned that large scale violations to the right to life are continuing to occur in Pakistan (E/CN.4/1999/39/Add.1). Pakistan was a cosponsor of the amendments presented by Egypt (A/C.3/54/L.31 and L.32) and others (L.33, L.34, L.35, L.36, L.41, L.47, L.56) to the resolution for a moratorium on executions presented by the European Union at the 54th UN General Assembly (A/C.3/54/L.8/Rev.1).
