New execution date. The state plans next month to execute William Earl Lynd. It would be the state's 1st execution in nearly a year. Lynd was sentenced to death for the Dec. 23, 1988, slaying of Ginger Moore, following an argument the couple had. Lynd later killed 42-year-old Leslie Joan Sharkey, whom he met on the side of a road. Sharkey was shot on Christmas Day. Lynd later turned himself in. Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker said today that Lynd is scheduled to be executed between May 6 and May 13. The commissioner of the Department of Corrections will set the specific date later.
