The state Senate rejected a 3-year moratorium on executions. State Sen. Cleo Fields, D-Baton Rouge, wants to stop executions in Louisiana while experts study whether innocent people might be on death row. A Senate committee stripped the moratorium from Fields' SB80 and left the study. Senators voted 29-4 against Fields' amendment, then approved the study.
