the Supreme Court upheld the lower courts' death sentence for a Yao tribesman extradited from China for possession of 60 kilos of heroin and 137,000 methamphetamine pills with intent to sell. 
Jirasak Chatworanit, 32, alias Asan, was arrested in Kunming, China, on 8 February 2005 and extradited to Thailand to face the drug charges. 
Jirasak was not present to hear the Supreme Court's verdict. The judgement was sent to be read at Khao Bin Prison in Ratchaburi province, where Jirasak remains in detention.
