Thailand's Court of Appeals has sentenced two Thai army colonels

Thailand's Court of Appeals has sentenced two Thai army colonels for their role in a major methamphetamine syndicate. The court, upholding the Criminal Court's verdict of December 2009, handed down capital sentences to Col Phisit Amornwisaisoradet and Lt Col Surayut Sangthep. However, the Criminal Court found that their statements were useful to the court proceedings, the court then commuted the sentence to life imprisonment for Col Surayut but death sentence for Col Phisit.
