The Supreme People's Court in Beijing upheld the death sentence given to Li Shaoju, a Myanmar [Burma] citizen for drug trafficking.He had been sentenced to death by the Intermediate People's Court of Lincang Prefecture on April 24, 2000 after being found guilty of smuggling over 13,500 grams of heroin, over 12,000 grams of opium, and over 8,000 grams of morphine from Myanmar into China's Yunnan Province, from September 1988 to July 1998. He was executed after sentencing.
