the Supreme People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, upheld the death sentences for Chu Duc Hai and his wife, Nguyen Thi Nga, Lam Quang Hai and Nguyen Phu Cuong, who were convicted of trafficking more than 22 cakes of heroin (equivalent to 7.59 kg) from 1999 to April of 2002. It also upheld the life imprisonment sentences for four other members of the ring and commuted life imprisonment to 15 and 16 years in jail for two others.
