The Tajik Supreme Court sentenced Abdughani Sartibayev, to death for the murder of Swiss tourist Didier Eric Mangerie in the summer of 2001

The Tajik Supreme Court sentenced Abdughani Sartibayev, to death for the murder of Swiss tourist Didier Eric Mangerie in the summer of 2001.
An accomplice in the crime, Khushvaqt Qosimov, was sentenced to 20 years in a strict-regime colony.
An initial investigation showed that Sartibayev was the one mostly to blame for the crime and he was therefore given the death penalty. The two killed Mangerie to rob him.
Tajikistan's Criminal Code metes out the death penalty for serious crimes such as an attempt to stage a coup d'etat, terrorism, taking hostages, premeditated murder aggravated by utmost cruelty and smuggling drugs in particularly large amounts.
