The Times Of India published an interview with lawyer and activist, Subrata Mukherjee, regarding the proposed implementation of the death penalty for convicted rapists

The Times Of India published an interview with lawyer and activist, Subrata Mukherjee, regarding the proposed implementation of the death penalty for convicted rapists. Replying to the question "Do you think that death penalty would reduce rape?" Mukherjee answered: "Yes, an exemplary punishment like death penalty can only stop a crime like rape. I wonder how those lobbying against a death penalty would have reacted if some one dear to them was raped. There are instances of rapists getting off with minor punishments. So death sentence can act as a deterrent."
