The U.N. Commission on Human Rights called on Iran to investigate killings of political activists and halt torture, including amputations and stoning. The resolution was voted on by a 53-member state forum with 22 countries in favour, 20 against and 11 countries abstaining. Whilst the EU expressed concern about alleged violations including executions, torture, deprivation of women's rights, absence of due process of law, and persecution of religious minorities.
