The U.N. war crimes prosecutor met Macedonian leaders as the government prepared to exhume a "mass grave" of people alleged to have been executed by ethnic Albanian guerrillas.
The government was expected to seek the support of U.N. tribunal chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte for an investigation linked to the alleged mass grave.
Macedonia alleged that 13 missing kinsmen were abducted by "Albanian terrorists" in July, executed and buried in one or more mass graves.
