The United States raised concern regarding the execution of Lobsang Dhondup, a Tibetan activist convicted following a string of bomb blasts in southwestern China. Dhondup, 28, was put to death on 26 January after his sentence was upheld in court. "We join the international community in raising concern over the reported execution of Lobsang Dhondup and the suspended sentence of Tensin Deleg Rinpoche," said Amanda Batt, a State Department spokeswoman. "We urge complete transparency and due process be upheld in these cases. We are also concerned about reports of other Tibetans detained in connection with this case and will be closely watching those cases too."
