The USA should not have attacked Afghanistan because the Taliban could have handed the al-Qaeda terrorist organisation leader Osama bin Laden to an Afghan or international court, Munib Hasan, chairman of the Islamic Foundation in Brno, said.
He added that the United States would have however had to submit evidence proving that bin Laden had masterminded the attacks against New York and Washington on September 11.
Hasan said that if bin Laden were prosecuted under Islamic law and found guilty, he would be faced with the death penalty. "Unnecessary loss of life would be spared," Hasan said.
