The Women and Children Repression Control Court sentenced Habibur Rahman Mina, a 32 year old Bangladeshi, was sentenced to death for throwing acid on his ex-wife. According to the prosecution, Mina hurled acid on his ex-wife Khairunnesa, 20, at her parent's house at Maniknagar on December 20, 2000. The victim lost her eyesight as a consequence of the acid burns.
