The Zambian Constitution of 1996, Article 12, comma 1, provides for the death penalty

The Zambian Constitution of 1996, Article 12, comma 1, provides for the death penalty. The Zambian penal code, section 43, forsees that the death penalty be enforced in cases regarding high treason, murder and armed robbery. Such a sentence can't be handed out to those who were minors at the time of the crime or pregnant women, who's sentence is commuted to life imprisonment.
