an open trial of five policemen was held in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Three were sentenced to death while the other two were sentenced to 20 years in prison. Kandahar military prosecutor Maj-Gen Sadiq Shinwari said the policemen were arrested in connection with a murder. Shinwari said the policemen had manned a checkpoint in the Ghargi area of Panjwai District. The policemen hanged a person in the check post with the help of their commander after they robbed him, Shinwari said. Shinwai said the policemen had confessed to their crime but did not accept the decision of the primary court.
