Three Iranians convicted of rape, kidnapping and extortion were hanged publicly in the western city of Khoramabad, the conservative Jaam-e Jam newspaper reported.
The report quoted a local police official as saying the men, who were not named, were strung up before dusk in three different places in the city.
It said their deaths were greeted by "cheering crowds supporting the execution." The official said two accomplices were still at large.
