Three members of a mafia gang and four murderers were executed in two Chinese provinces, Chinese media reported. Yu Zhanjun, his brother Yu Zhancai and Zhang Shuguo were accused of having created a mafia empire in the town of Baishan, in the north east province of Jilin, which they began by running a coal mine. Gradually they enlarged their influence by buying off local officials and through killings and armed robberies, according to official media. The three men were executed immediately after the announcement of their sentence by the High Court of Jilin. At Quanzhou, in the south east province of Fujian, convicted killers Li Congcai, Wu Zili, Liu Zhisheng and Zhang Xiaojun were executed after being paraded on a stage, according to the South East Express newspaper.
