Three young Palestinian men found guilty of the gang rape and murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in the Gaza Strip were sentenced to death.
The sentences were handed down at a court in Gaza City to Ihab Abu Al Umrein, 24, Rami Juha, 24, and Abdelfatah Samur, 22 after their conviction over the murder of Mayada Abu Lamadi.
A fourth man, 18-year-old Said Zahad, was jailed for 18 years.
The four, who police say have confessed to the crime, could appeal against the sentences.
The youngster's family had reported her missing after she failed to return home from school on September 25 and her body was found two days later dumped at a tip in the Shati refugee camp, just outside Gaza City.
Police said the four had abducted the teenager after she left school, before taking her to an empty house and gang-raping her before suffocating her.
The case caused outrage among the local Gaza population, who staged demonstrations demanding that the killers be executed.
The death penalty is rarely enforced in the Palestinian territories and any decision must be approved by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
