TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: MARLON KING SENTENCED TO HANG

Marlon King, the man charged for the murder of four year old Amy Annamunthudo, has been sentenced to death by hanging in Trinidad and Tobago.
The verdict was handed down by Justice Anthony Carmona in the San Fernando Supreme Court, after the jury returned with a unanimous verdict. The 12-member jury deliberated for some two hours before returning the verdict.
It took six days to sum up the trial.
During the trial, the jury was shown the stained clothing of the four year old, who was said to have been strung by her hair from a door ledge and beaten to death. A knotted plastic bag was also shown as evidence against King.
The State's case was that Amy was strung by the hair and punched 20 to 30 times. The Prosecution relied on the testimony of its main witness, Mr. Andre Rocke, who told the court on the day, he peeped through a hole for one to two minutes and saw Amy hanging from a cloth tied to her hair.
Marlon King, Amy's stepfather, is said to have committed the act at the family home in Marabella on May 15th, 2006.
Police Constable Jagdeo Bachan told the court that he and other officers went to King's home in Marabella on May 16th, 2006  and found items which were used to support the case against the accused.
