Turkey officially presented the sixth protocol to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms concerning the abolition of death penalty.
Turkey's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe (COE) Numan Hazar presented the documents showing that Turkey had ratified the sixth protocol to COE Secretary General Walter Schwimmer. Hazar had signed the sixth protocol on behalf of Turkey in a ceremony on January 15, 2003.
