Two people were sentenced to death in a joint trial of 23 suspects of genocide and other crimes against humanity, committed in the former Gungu Sector [phonetic] of Rwanda

Two people were sentenced to death in a joint trial of 23 suspects of genocide and other crimes against humanity, committed in the former Gungu Sector [phonetic] of Rwanda. The former councillor of Gungu, Andre Ugwabugarama and Savage Wanubizimana [all names phonetic] were sentenced to death.
Four people were sentenced to life imprisonment, two were sentenced to 20 years in jail, seven were sentenced to 18 years in jail, five others were sentenced to 11 years because they had confessed and asked for forgiveness.
Three people were acquitted of the charges against them after the court found them not guilty.
