UAE. DEATH PENALTY FOR MAN WHO SHOT FATHER-IN-LAW

the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court, UAE, sentenced to death a man, only identified as S.J., after convicting him of killing his father-in-law, identified as A.H. The Federal Supreme Court, which turned down S.J.'s appeal, upheld the Criminal Court's ruling. It was heard S.J. had legal problems with A.H. and that they had lawsuits in court. On the day of the murder, S.J's wife, the daughter of A.H., had sent S.J. a message on his mobile insulting him. According to her testimony, she sent him a message telling him that he was "mean" and that he was "not a man." S.J. was offended at the message. He told the court later he knew A.H. was behind the message. S.J. then took his father's shotgun and went to A.H.'s house. According to S.H., the 18-year-old son of A.H., he heard a car horn outside the house. S.H. said S.J. knocked on the door and asked for his father. When S.H. returned with his dad, he came out with him to find S.J. sitting in the car with a rifle in his hand. A.H. turned around to enter the house. S.J. then shot him in the leg and when he saw he was still walking he shot him five times in the back until he fell to the ground. He was taken straight to a hospital but hospital staff found him dead on arrival.
