UGANDA: WOMAN ACQUITTED OF MURDER, DEATH SENTENCE

Justices Bahigeine, Twinomujuni and Byamugisha of the Ugandan Court of Appeal dismissed a death sentence against Joan Tumuhairwe, 28, from Kakoni village in Kiruhura district, for murdering her husband Edgar Mwijukye. "The conviction is hereby quashed and the death sentence withdrawn. She is free forthwith unless lawfully held on other charges," the-three-justice panel ruled. They found the trial court relied on inadmissible evidence and didn’t consider her evidence.
