UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER

an appeals court in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates sentenced a young unidentified Asian man to death. He had been sentenced to seven years prison for murdering his cousin following a dispute over a used car. The youth alleged his brother was the real killer and had convinced him to confess, as due to his young age he would be able to retract his confession after the brother left the country. The victim’s relatives refused to accept diya and pardon him.
