the military court of the Bukavu Garrison, in the Eastern region of the DRC, sentenced to death a FARDC soldier for killing a 5-year-old boy and wounding four other civilians. The accused was assisted by two lawyers for the crime committed only one day
earlier. During the trial only one eye-witness was presented by the prosecutor. Marks on the defendant’s body indicated that he had been subjected to physical ill treatment before coming to court.
