A Mobile County jury recommended 10-2 the death penalty for Derek Horton, 20, white. Presiding Circuit Judge Charles Graddick, who set sentencing for Oct. 10, will make the final decision. According to testimony, Horton, then-18-year-old, robbed Jeanette Romprey at her home on April 10, 2010, and then shot the 59-year-old woman twice before setting the trailer on fire.
