Jimmy Lee Dill, 49, black, was executed at Holman Correctional Facility for the Feb. 8, 1988 slaying of Leon Shaw, 33, black, a drug dealer robbed of cocaine and money. Dill becomes the 3rd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Alabama and the 41st overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1983. Alabama has 203 death row inmates, most of them in Holman, which is near Atmore in southwest Alabama. Dill becomes the 22nd condemneinmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1158th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
