USA - Alabama. Judge Clyde Jones overruled the jury’s sentencing recommendation, and sentenced Justin White to death

Circuit Judge Clyde Jones today overruled the jury’s sentencing recommendation, and sentenced Justin White to death for the July 11, 2006, rape and strangulation of Jasmine Parker, 17. White, 22, black, is already serving life without parole for the rape and murder of 20-year-old Sirrea Black, who was killed in a similar way on Oct. 31, 2006. A Jefferson County jury in December recommended life without parole in a 9-3 vote. Judge Jones said he gave great consideration to the jury's sentencing recommendation, but decided to the advisory verdict because of Parker's age and the way she was killed.
