Marshall County judge Tim Riley sentenced Jessie Phillips, 32, black, to the death penalty. Phillips was convicted in June of killing his wife, who was eight weeks pregnant. Erica Droze Phillips and her unborn child died on Feb. 27, 2009. The jury unanimously recommended the death penalty for Phillips on June 19, 2012.
