A Washington County jury recommended the death penalty for Zachariah Scott Marcyniuk in the killing of a student in her apartment in March. Marcyniuk, 29, white, was convicted of capital murder in the March 9, 2008, stabbing and beating death of Katharine "Katie" Wood, 24.
