David Dewayne Johnson, 37, black, was executed by lethal injection in Cummins Prison, Varner. He had been convicted of killing Leo Brown, a 67 year old, white, security guard on 2nd September 1989. He was the second person to be executed in the State during the year, the 23rd since the State resumed executions in 1990. He was the 85th to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 683 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
