A Los Angeles County jury has recommended death for Desi Marentes, 34, a gang member, over the hate-crime killing of a black man. He was convicted of killing Eric Buckley in 2006. Prosecutors say Marentes shot Buckley 10 times as he walked to a bus stop after work.
