A Riverside County jury has recommended the death penalty for Christopher Guy Jasso. Jasso, 37, was convicted Dec. 1 of first-degree murder for gunning down a taxi cabdriver, Carlos Rafael Cuellar Cardona, 30, on Sept. 7, 2003 during a robbery that netted $80. The defendant will be formally sentenced on Jan. 8 by Riverside County Superior Court Judge Richard Erwood. Fabian Perez, 26, is also charged with murder in Cardona's killing. He will be tried separately.
