A Riverside County jury recommended the death penalty for Tyrone Miller, 25, Black and Emrys John, 23, Black. Along with Kevin Cox, 25, Black, the three ex-Marines were convicted of murder earlier this month.
They were convicted of killing a Camp Pendleton Marine sergeant and his wife on October 15, 2008. They attacked Jan Pietrzak, 24, White, and sexually assaulted his wife, Quiana Faye Jenkins-Pietrzak, 26, Black, before killing the couple. Jurors recommended Cox serve life without possibility of parole. The trio went to the home of Sgt. Pietrzak to rob him. Miller testified that he was displeased with Pietrzak because the sergeant had told the lance corporal that his chances of being promoted to corporal were nil. A fourth defendant, 25-year-old Kesaun Kedron Sykes, is awaiting trial sometime later this summer.
