USA - California. A jury sentenced Luis Jesus Rodriguez to death

A Los Angeles County jury sentenced Luis Jesus Rodriguez, 32, Hispanic, to death. Authorities say on July 28, 2007, Rodriguez armed himself with an AK-47 and had his brother drive him to the neighborhood of a rival gang member. When they reached the neighborhood, he started shooting, hitting 19-year-old Benjamin Velasco and 21-year-old Julio Ramirez before fleeing the scene. Three days later, Rodriguez was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of victim Salvador Deavila, killed on June 24, 2007. Rodriguez was convicted of that killing in 2008 and sentenced to 50 years to life in state prison.
