Daniel Patrick Wozniak, 32, White, was sentenced to death by Orange County Superior Court Judge John Conley. Judge John D. Conley followed a January 11 (see) jury's recommendation, after more than 6 years of court hearings. The case was delayed as Wozniak's defense attorney, Assistant Public Defender Scott Sanders, alleged systemic misconduct by Orange County prosecutors and sheriff's deputies involving the use of jailhouse informants. Wozniak was convicted in December of killing 2 friends for money to pay for his wedding and honeymoon. Murdered on May 21, 2010 were 26-year-old Samuel Eliezer Herr and 23-year-old Julie Kibuishi. Jurors recommended in January that Wozniak be sentenced to death.
