Judge Kathleen Kennedy sentenced Kevin Haley, 50, Black, to death. On May 16 (see), a Los Angeles County jury recommended a death sentence for Haley. Haley was found guilty in the June 25, 1984, killing of Laverne Stolzy and the Sept. 27, 1984, killing of Dolores Clement.
