Serial killer William Jennings Choyce was sentenced to death for killing three women. The San Joaquin County jury had already found Choyce, 54, black, guilty in the 1997 rapes and murders of Lawanda Beck and Gwendolyn Lee, as well as the 1988 murder of Victoria Bell.  During the trial, three other women also testified to being raped at gunpoint by Choyce. Choyce was serving time in state prison for rape when DNA evidence connected him to the murders.
