the United States Supreme Court refused to review the death sentence of Caribbean-born, British national Linda Carty, 51, who was convicted of murder in February 2002. The woman was born in St. Kitts but has British citizenship. The British government appealed to the Supreme Court, citing “gross errors” by her court-appointed lawyer. Prosecutors said Carty ordered the killing of her neighbour on May 16, 2001, to steal her newborn son. Carty claims she was framed because she was a police informant.
