A Duval county jury recommended 10-2 the death penalty for Michael Mulugetta Yacob, 26, black. Yacob, was convicted Oct. 6 in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Moussa Maida during a May 4, 2008 robbery at Maida's family-owned convenience store. A video played during his trial showed the entire robbery that resulted in Maida's murder. Circuit Judge Adrian G. Soud set a first sentencing hearing on Nov. 18.
