A Duval County jury in Jacksonville recommended the death penalty for DeShawn Green, 28, black. The jury that convicted Green of the March 2009 first degree murder of Robert Lee Kearney, 24, recommended by a 7-5 vote that Green be given the death penalty. Circuit Judge James Daniel will make the final decision, likely early next year.
