Circuit Judge G. Richard Singeltary sentenced Bill Roberts, 60, White, to death. The same judge on March 30 found Roberts guilty of first-degree premeditated murder in the Dec. 21, 2017 slaying of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Hellstrom, 55. The evidence was stacked against him, including that the victim’s body was discovered in the trunk of his car after a chase with Volusia and Lake County sheriff's deputies, and a security video tape showing the man dragging her body out of his camper. Roberts rejected a jury trial, saying he wanted to be sent to the row.
