Circuit Judge Mallory Cooper upheld an April 22 jury recommendation, and sentenced Galante Romar Phillips to death. Phillips, 29, black, has been found guilty of this morning for murdering  Christopher Aligada in Oct. 2005. Aligada, 40, was fatally shot after he tried to stop Phillips from robbing another person in a parking lot. The jury had voted 7 to 5 to recommend the killer receive a death sentence.
