The state plans to inject midazolam along with 2 other drugs in the execution of William Happ. The other 2 drugs can be extremely painful if first drug does not work properly. Many states have abandoned the more painful drugs, switching to a single-drug process. No state has tried using midazolam, either alone or with other drugs.
