USA - Florida. Judge Richard Howard sentenced John William Campbell, 39, white, to death

Citrus County Circuit Court Judge Richard Howard sentenced John William Campbell, 39, white, to death. A jury had made a death recommendation on January 29 (see).  Campbell was found guilty of using a hatchet to kill his father, John Henry Campbell, 68, in August 2010. Campbell admitted he killed his father, but his attorneys argued that he did not scheme to kill him and cover it up. They blamed the act on the younger Campbell's depression and use of crack cocaine.
