USA - Florida. The Florida Supreme Court has overturned the death sentences imposed on Noel Doorbal

Under its case precedent that death sentences imposed by a trial judge after a non-unanimous jury vote on life or death violate the Florida Constitution and the Sixth Amendment, the Florida Supreme Court has overturned the death sentences imposed by the trial court on Noel Doorbal, 45, Asiatic. Four jurors had voted to recommend a life sentence for the two counts of murder in his case. He was sentenced to death on July 17, 1998 in the May 25, 1995 abduction, attempted extortion, and murders (by poisoning) of Frank Griga (33) and his girlfriend Krisztina Furton (23).
