The Florida Supreme Court ordered 7-0 a new trial for Gabby Tennis, 23, who robbed and stomped to death 91-year-old Albert Vassella in 2003. The justices found Circuit Judge Susan Lebow erred by failing to hold a hearing before letting Tennis represent himself at his Broward County trial. Members of a local Gypsy community, Tennis and his ex-girlfriend, who pleaded guilty to her role in the killing, went to Vessella’s house to steal money to pay a dowry demanded by the girlfriend’s mother.
